About the Disaster Preparation Center
“Disaster Is Hard. Being Prepared isn’t.”
Thank you for visiting our about page. We hope that you enjoy everything that this website has to offer, whether you are a disaster volunteer or wanting to better prepare you and your family.
The Disaster Preparation Center has been developed by disaster volunteers to help people prepare for disasters. Some of our volunteers have over 25 years of service. We all agree that preparation is key to survival of any disaster. Making sure that people are prepared is what it is all about.
Preparation is the one thing that everyone should do and not just talk about. There are simple things that everyone can do to prepare themselves, their family, their home, and their community for disaster.
Preparation is only one aspect of a disaster, however. When the devastation is left, what about the people? Who do they contact? Where do they go? What do they do? We help with some of those answers.
Every state will experience a disaster of some sort. We have created an exhaustive database of fire departments, emergency managers, health departments, sheriff departments from the local level. On the state level, we have incorporated website and social media links from governors, emergency managers, attorney generals, department of transportation, highway/state patrols, public health, Energy companies, and InciWeb. There is also mapping, traveler information evacuation routes and s much more. Federal government resources are also included.
With every disaster, hundreds if not thousands, of volunteers run towards the damaged area. Many have never been to the area. These resources will prove to be invaluable to them as they help victims through the disaster aftermath.
